Natural Resources Institute (NRI)
NRI is an internationally recognised multi-disciplinary centre for research, consultancy and education for the management of natural and human resources.
Overseas Development Institute (ODI)
ODI is Britain's leading independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues.
African Economic Research Consortium (AERC)
The AERC, established in 1988 and based in Nairobi, is a public not-for-profit organisation devoted to advanced policy research and training in economics.
Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS)
Established in 1983 in Rajasthan, CUTS works as a research, advocacy and networking organisation focusing on areas of public interest, such as consumer protection; international trade and development; competition; investment and economic regulation; human development; and consumer safety. CUTS works a range of organisations, including Consumers International; International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development; and South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment. It also serves on several policy-making bodies of the Government of India (eg Central Consumer Protection Council of the Ministry of Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs). CUTS is accredited to UNCTAD and the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development. CUTS is a member of IPPG's State-Business Relations (India) cluster.
Latin American Centre for Rural Development (RIMISP)
RIMISP is a regional non-profit organisation based in Santiago, Chile. Its goal is to promote organisational learning and innovation in public and private policies, projects and programmes, in ways that advance social inclusion, equity, well-being and vibrant democracies in Latin American rural societies. To this end, it works in close collaboration with individuals and organisations, public and private, national and international, throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
Advisory Group
An inter-disciplinary Consortium Advisory Group advises the IPPG Directors. The Advisory Group is independent, and is responsible for quality control of IPPG's programme. IPPG Advisory Group members include:
Professor Pranab Bardhan (Chair) is Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He has done theoretical and field studies research on rural institutions in poor countries, on political economy of development policies, and on international trade. A part of his work is in the interdisciplinary area of economics, political science, and social anthropology. Pranab was Chief Editor of the Journal of Development Economics from 1985 to 2003. He was the co-chair of the MacArthur Foundation-funded Network on the Effects of Inequality on Economic Performance for 1996–2007.
Professor Mick Moore is Research Fellow, Governance Team, at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and Director for the Development Research Centre, the Centre for the Future State. Mick is a political economist working on institutional and political aspects of development; the causes of 'good' and 'bad' government; the effects of government revenue sources on governance; and the relationship between politics and private enterprise in poor countries.
Professor Leonard Wantchekon is Professor of Politics, Economics at New York University. Areas of research/interest include political economy, development, applied game theory and comparative politics.
IPPG's co-directors also sit on the advisory group, together with representatives from the UK Department for International Development (DFID), which funds the IPPG Programme.
